Adult Education Program Mission
The Adult Education Department has served the community for more than 30 years. Its mission is to prepare adults so that they may achieve their education and career goals for improved life and work opportunities. People of different backgrounds and cultures share ideas, hopes, and dreams to help bring learning to Progreso Latino’s communities.
Course Offerings
Course Offerings:
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Native Literacy
A six-level English acquisition program designed to develop strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Native Literacy
Literacy instruction in the native language of a learner as an initial step to entering our Adult Basic Education programs.
Adult Basic Education
Pre-GED program that prepares adult students below 8th grade to enter the Adult Secondary Education program.
Adult Secondary Education
General Education Diploma (GED) program that assists students in obtaining their high school equivalency.
Citizenship
Prepares students for the citizenship interview with instruction in U.S. history, government, and civics.
Job Training/IET/RI-Best
A training for entry-level careers in mental health, with a pathway to earning national certification in Mental Health First Aid.
Job Development
A workforce preparation program for job seekers and foreign-trained professionals.
